Merlot planted on Richter-110 rootstock in 1997. The Finca "Els Plans" is an organic farm of almost two hectares located 510 meters above sea level. It is located in an area of poor soil with very low rainfall throughout the year. The texture of the earth is gravelly limestone with lots of stones.
These soil and climatic conditions give our Merlot vines high potential alcohol content and optimum ripening of the skins, giving this wine personality, balanced complexity and elegance.
Organically produced and harvested, eliminating excess production. CARLANIA CELLER uses trusted varieties indigenous to the area, and we consider it important to maintain and promote varieties that grow close to the earth we cultivate. So, all our wines are made with a variety of grape native to the DO Conca de Barbera area, the Trepat grape.
85% Merlot vinified with long maceration and 15% Trepat with carbonic maceration.
Meticulous control of the ripening process paying special attention to the taste of the grape. Harvested at the optimum time and the grapes are manually selected in the same finca.
Fermented at a temperature of 23 to 25°C and maceration of 8 to 15 days depending on the maturity of each variety.
From 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels and for at least 12 months in the bottle.
Full bodied with a rich aroma and warm extraordinary floral aromas of violets and fresh fruit. Palate, light and easy. The Trepat variety gives citrus notes lingering in the mouth.
